Primarily we work in European hardwoods. Most clients choose character Oak based on its suitability to the older home and its durability.

Ash has been appreciated where an open grained lighter traditional timber has been requested, particularly in either fitted or large freestanding furniture.

We have been able to source Pitch Pine from reclaimed timber for making both Box Sash and Casement Crucifix windows. This is a rich red durable timber now commercially extinct but traditionally widely used for making windows, accompanied by an Oak sill. All timbers are hand selected by the joiner.

But we strongly believe that the timber used is only part of the story. It is more about the marriage of wood, metal, glass and stone that delivers the final feel and quality to the work that we produce.

• Staircases - Where appropriate the bottom bull nose step is solid Oak steamed around a former.
• Oak floors are secret nailed and finished with quality floor oil.
• Ash furniture (fitted & freestanding) is sealed and bees waxed.
• Door Furniture & Fittings are of the best quality but supplied at the best price (Dartington Steel hand forged T hinges and Patina door handles have been standard for our doors for many years).
• Stained leaded glass is supplied by our own known glassier.
• Granit & Slate worktops are measured, cut and fit using the skills of an associated local craftsman.
• We are proud to fit quality tiles of your choice using our own experienced tiller.
• Likewise we network with a professional plasterer who finishes behind the windows that we have cut in.
